In addition, the 2014 Championship is the tenth in succession under the partnership between BMW, The European Tour and Wentworth Club.
This year, reigning US Open champion Justin Rose will like his chances of finally lifting the prestigious BMW PGA Championship trophy, as no doubt will former two-time champion Luke Donald. However, Matteo Manassero has perhaps more reason than anyone to be excited by the prospect and will be relishing the opportunity to defend his title. The 20-year old etched his name on the trophy alongside his hero Seve Ballesteros and fellow countryman Costantino Rocca, by virtue of an assured playoff victory against Simon Khan and Marc Warren in last years event. He is the youngest ever winner of this Championship.
