The first-ever race took place on 18th September 1948 that was sanctioned by the Duke of Gordon and Richmond and organized by the Junior Car Club.
Mike Hawthorn and Graham Hill had their first single-seat races at this racing circuit. Not just this, but this was also where Stirling Moss finished his international career when he met an accident at the St. Mary’s during the Glover Trophy.
